I have just recently graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. For me, studying one particular major was not enough, especially since my major had never been the main goal for me. After being fascinated with my first Religious Studies course, I decided to take it on as a minor to further educate myself. Typically in my field of study, students usually choose a specific region or conflict to specialize in, which is what led me to choosing both to study the political and historical aspects of the Middle East, along with the language within the region. While these are my area studies, I have still found time to dwell in other areas, such as Latin American culture and the Asian region.

This journey has truly taught me to love and appreciate other languages and cultures much more than I ever did - if possible. To me, learning a new language is as gaining a new perspective in life, and could be the help you never realized someone needed. Learning another language shows a sign of respect and cultural appreciation and acknowledgement. It is the bridge we did not know we lacked between other peoples. The best feeling in the world comes from the smile another person gives you once they realize you have taken the time to understand how their linguistic structure works, and being able to portray what it is the person may want to say but lack the words to do so. With languages, I understand those who might reside by me, and those who seem so far away in a global aspect, yet remain close in the heart and mind.
